Tribal Generally, a tribe is a political structure whose members consider themselves as a separate social grouping. They may share a common ancestral lineage. They rule themselves, defend each other from outsiders, share a common lifestyle and identity. Their weavings often suggest this identity through specific design or structural features. Rugs are woven by tribal members from a wide variety of Near Eastern ethnic groups. Generally, tribal rugs are characterized by traditional motifs employed by nomadic members as well as by those settled in villages.[1]
