afshan, avshan (Persian afshân, “scattered”) is an all-over design found in Caucasian, Indian, {{Cl|Persian Carpets|Persian}}, and Turkish rugs. It consists of stylized, right-angle blossom cups or calyxes on a stem surrounded by florets.<ref>Stone, 2013, 18</ref>
