• Rippon Boswell to sell carpets from the Orient Stars Collection

Rippon Boswell's auction “Orient Stars 2” will take place on 2 October 2021 at 6 p.m. in Wiesbaden. The auction includes 95 carpet lots from The Orient Stars Collection and among them many very old Anatolian carpets and fragments. The Orient Stars Collection assembled by E. Heinrich and Waltraut Kirchheim is one of the most important rug compilations in the world.

Among the treasures are lot 29, the “Faces” rug, the oldest known Anatolian carpet from the Islamic era and carbon-dated back to 1042-1218, and lot 30, the “Potala” Rug Fragment carbon-dated back to 1189 – 1283, and many more very old Anatolian carpets. The viewing exhibition is open for the public 20–24 September and 27 September – 1 October from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. and 2 October from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
