# '''Muhammed Türk''': The Carpet ‘Destruction’ by designer Muhammad Türk took first place in the competition. He describes his design as a protest against the destruction of historical monuments by badly done restorations. He juxtaposed a central series of traditional Islamic geometrics done in a blood-hued red on a black background against a wash of blues and earth colors to represent the sweeping away of tangible evidences of the past.<ref>http://rugnews.com/ME2/dirmod.asp?sid=0DAB59D70A93452A92E82D8312BEFBAA&nm=News+Archives&type=Publishing&mod=Publications%3A%3AArticle&mid=B057D339E04A4FFF99DB9FEEB9BDA02F&tier=4&id=F7B1F5E4248445F18807B13A9EDCD5E7</ref>
